Mama Criteria

We know that there are a lot of remarkable women in South Africa. See if you meet the criteria to be a Clover Mama Afrika.

Please note: We are not appointing new Mamas now, but you can still see if you meet the criteria should we open submissions in the future.

To be considered as a Clover Mama Afrika – there are criteria to be met first.
We appoint two types of Mamas, see where you fit in.

Care Centre

A Mama has already started a nurturing and protective environment for the people they care for in their community.
She has managed such a care centre for a minimum of five years.
A Mama has started with a group who work on a specific skill or skills for a minimum of 3 to 5 years.
A Mama owns an existing dwelling that accommodates their work.
Her work receives the respect and endorsement of the community.
She is willing to receive skills training that will enable her to better the self-help project(s).
She is committed to passing her new-found skills to create new or more jobs.
She understands that Clover does not give money, only skills training and equipment.

Small Economic Development

A Mama has implemented her skills to start her own business.
She has been growing her business for a minimum of 3 to 5 years.
A Mama owns an existing property that accommodates their work.
The quality of her work receives the respect and endorsement of the community.
She is willing to receive skills training that will enable her to grow her business.
She is committed to passing her new-found skills to employees and to create new or more jobs.
She understands that Clover does not give money, only skills training and equipment.
