MAMA BAHLE NGCOBO

Bahle Care Centre

Mama Bahle was spurred into action when she noticed the ill-treatment and plight of the elderly in her community. She opened her house and small garage to help those who were too young or too old to fend for themselves. She advocated for better treatment of the powerless and enlisted 350 women in the community to assist in caring for the elderly, as well as 1 200 orphans, and address their numerous welfare issues. One of these women, was Eunice Dlamini, and when Mama Bahle Ngcobo passed away in 2008, Mama Eunice became determined not to let her work or her values fall by the wayside. Mama Eunice worked tirelessly to uphold the legacy Mama Bahle left in the community of Umlazi.
