MAMA GLADYS SIYOTHULA
Ethembeni Drop-in Centre
Some people are born with a passion for helping others. They cannot stand idly by when there is wrongdoing. Mama Gladys was one of these warriors. She studied childcare and worked with various other projects until she started her centre in 2008. She had more than 50 children registered in her care and still ensured that 300 others received food parcels and got the necessary attention when they needed it. Not only did Mama Gladys feed and care for them but also assisted with getting them the correct documentation at the Department of Home Affairs. Mama Gladys´ life was tragically cut short at the age of 44 on 9 July 2015. We mourn with her family, the children in her care, and the community. But, the great work she has done will never be forgotten.
