MAMA JACQUELINE DONKERBROEK
Tesselaarsdal Woman Alliance
The effects of abuse can have long-lasting effects, and no one is more aware of this than Mama Jacqueline Donkerbroek. At the tender age of 22, she moved to the Netherlands, but South Africa was always ingrained in her heart, and after 32 years abroad and regularly sending school clothes to children in S.A., she decided to return, and give back to a country in need of healing.
She has an unrivalled dedication to help others in any way possible, and on her return settled in the rural area of Tesselaarsdal, where she assists as many mothers and children as possible overcome the devastation of abuse. She provides counselling and a safe environment, teaches them to read and write, and helps them to get back on their feet and regain their self-respect. Her focus is to provide them with skills like sewing and bread baking so that they can become self-sustainable.
