MAMA YVONNE DU PREEZ
Sewing Centre
Mama Yvonne du Preez is living testimony to the effect that sustainable social enterprise development programmes can ripple into the world and affect change. She started working with Mama Mary Visagie of Oasis Skill Centre in 2008 and was trained by Bernina though the Clover Mama Afrika project. Oasis Skill Centre in Upington provided Yvonne with eight years of adequate experience and knowledge.
Now, this single mother has been empowered enough to start her own centre. She is the third of our Enterprise Development project Mamas appointed and is motivated to pay it forward to her fellow community members. As a former Captain in the South African Army, Mama Yvonne had to overcome many challenges in a male-dominated environment and is up to the task to lead her community to self-sustainability.
