APPLE TART

Serves 8

Ingredients

250ml Cake Flour (heaped cup)
10ml Baking Powder
50ml Butter
187.5ml Sugar
250ml Milk
2 Eggs
410g Tin of Apples
Pinch of Salt

Sauce:
250ml Fresh Cream
250ml Sugar

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  2. Cream butter and sugar.
  3. Add eggs one at a time.
  4. Add dry ingredients and milk – mix until smooth.
  5. Add mixture into square oven proof dish and place apples evenly on top of mixture.
  6. Bake for 35 minutes.
  7. Mix 250ml fresh cream and 250ml sugar in a pot and boil for 7 minutes – watch as it can boil over quickly.
  8. Throw over baked tart immediately once out of oven (suggestion: cut tart in serving pieces before adding the sauce).
  9. Serve with whipped fresh cream or ice cream.

Tip

I always cut the baked tart in serving pieces before pouring the sauce over it.
