Ingredients
Crust:
500ml Finely Mashed Boiled Potatoes
250ml Cake flour
1 Egg
10ml Baking Powder
125g Butter
Salt
Cayenne Pepper
White Sauce:
60ml Cake Flour
30ml Butter
500ml Clover Full Cream Milk
Filling:
1 Whole Chicken (cooked, deboned, and cut into small pieces) OR 1 big tin of Asparagus
250g Mushrooms
1 pct. Bacon
2 Onions (finely chopped)
1 Egg
Salt & Pepper to taste
Grated cheese
Method
For the crust:
- Rub butter into flour and add salt and baking powder – mix.
- Add potatoes to the flour mixture – beat the egg and add to mixture – mix until smooth.
- Spread batter evenly with the back of a spoon in an oven-proof dish.
For the filling:
- Pre-heat oven to 180°C.
- Fry the bacon, mushrooms, and onions – make the white sauce with flour, butter, and milk.
- Add chopped cooked chicken OR whole asparagus to white sauce.
- Add bacon, mushroom and onion mix and salt and pepper to taste.
- Place mixture in prepared oven-proof dish – add grated cheese on top.
- Bake for 40 minutes in pre-heated oven at 180°C.

Tip:
You do not need to add Asparagus – this is just to help you make an even bigger pie! NB: Drain the Asparagus before using it!
