Ingredients
1 Clean chicken
250 g Pasta i.e. spirals
125 g Bacon (in cubes)
2 Onions, finely chopped
250 g Mushrooms, cut into slices
1 Green pepper, pitted and cut into blocks
Salt and freshly grounded black pepper
WHITE SAUCE:
30ml Butter
30 ml Cake Flour
375 ml Lukewarm milk
125 ml Fresh breadcrumbs
125 ml Grated cheddar cheese

Method
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- Cook chicken until soft. Remove from pot.
- Remove skin and break up the meat a little.
- Boil pasta in same meat sauce of the chicken (add water if the fluid is too little).
- Drain pasta and add to chicken.
- Braai bacon until light brown. Remove from pan and add to the chicken mixture.
- Braai onions, mushrooms and green pepper in the same pan until soft.
- Add salt and pepper and add to the chicken mixture.
WHITE SAUCE:
- Melt butter, add cake flour, mix well and braai ± 1 minute.
- Remove from heat. Stir milk gradually to this mixture in pot and stir until mixture is smooth.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Add white sauce to chicken mixture.
- Pour into smeared oven dish.
- Mix crumbs and cheese and throw over chicken dish.
- Bake until light brown on top.
TIP:
As mentioned it can serve up to 10 people – ensure that you have a large dish or use 2 dishes to serve.
